John T. Heinrich, M.D.

Dr. John T. Heinrich is an orthopaedic surgeon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the hip, shoulder and knee. As an orthopaedic sports medicine specialist, Dr. Heinrich's practice encompasses the treatment of all sports related injuries. He is an expert in arthroscopic surgery and its applications in all the major joints of the body.

Dr. Heinrich received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison (84-88). He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (88-93) and an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine, Long Beach, California (93-94) under the direction of Dr. Douglas Jackson.

Since beginning his orthopaedic surgery practice in 1994, Dr. Heinrich has served as team physician for all the major professional teams in Milwaukee. For 6 years he was the head team orthopaedic physician for the Milwaukee Bucks Basketball Team (02-08), and continues as an associate team physician. In addition, he has served as team physician for the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club (95-98) as well as the Milwaukee Admirals Hockey Team (95-02).

For the past 13 years, Dr. Heinrich has taken his arthroscopic expertise and applied it to the hip joint. Arthroscopic surgery of the hip is quickly developing and Dr. Heinrich has become an expert in the field. He has been involved in teaching these procedures to other orthopaedic surgeons on cadaver specimens since 1998. Dr. Heinrich speaks regularly to a variety of groups (other physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and chiropracters) on the topic of hip arthroscopy and its applications in patients with hip pain. He is involved in clinical research related to the arthroscopic treatment of non-arthritic hip pathology. As the indications for hip arthroscopy expand, the number of these procedures Dr. Heinrich performs annually has grown dramatically.
